That night as I lay in bed, I tossed and turned and couldn’t sleep. I thought of James, I thought of Lloyd, I thought of all of the trouble that I might bring to my stable lifestyle. Life with Lloyd was stale, but it was safe, and I knew that if I were to act against my better judgment I risked it all. Lloyd had a fetish for race play, but did he want to see his wife in the arms of another man? I thought not. I lay there for hours tortured by my thoughts, tortured by the feelings in my heart battling it out with the thoughts in my head until finally, I slept. I can only remember a piece of the dream that I had. Lloyd and I were at Jake’s house. The two of them were building a treehouse in the backyard. They seemed so friendly with each other and from time to time one of them would come to me and I would hand them a beer and they’d kiss me. It seemed so natural, the three of us. Lloyd seemed so happy to see me hug and kiss James. It was a great dream. The sky had gotten darker and started to rain.

“Well, I think that about does it,” James had said, and he and Lloyd shook hands then hugged and clapped each other on the back.

James came over to me and hugged me and we looked at Lloyd as he put up his tools.

“Your boys will have so much fun in this,” Lloyd said, smiling at us brightly.

“What?” I asked not sure what he was talking about.

“You know babe,” James said, and he lifted my shirt and rubbed my swollen belly.

I woke with a start and sat upright in bed.

“You ok hon,” Lloyd asked in a half-awake mumble.

“Um… yeah,” I said, my eyes darting around the room like I was searching for my sanity. I rubbed my flat stomach and breathed deeply then lay back down.

What the fuck, I wondered? Was that a dream or a nightmare? Holy shit. I realized at once something I’d thought nothing of. After the kids were born Lloyd had been snipped. No more kids for this family, two were plenty thank you very much. But I was still young and fertile and had not even considered what that meant for me doing anything with James. I slapped myself on the forehead and looked at the ceiling. What was I thinking anyway? I must have been out of my mind. Well, that dream woke me up, I thought. No more of those shenanigans.
